In December 2014, HUD introduced Public Housing Authorities to a free resource – ABCmouse.com – in order to provide low income families with greater access to early learning and digital literacy opportunities.
ABCmouse.com, developed by Age of Learning, Inc. (www.ageoflearning.com), is the leading and most comprehensive online curriculum for young learners. Available on computers, tablets, and smart phones, ABCmouse.com helps children ages 2-7 build a strong foundation for future academic success.
The curriculum encompasses reading and language arts, math, science, social studies, health, art, and music. ABCmouse.com is available on a low-cost subscription basis for use at home, but is free to schools, libraries, Head Start programs, community centers, and PHAs.
HUD is a department of opportunity for all, and recognizes the importance of early childhood education, as well as digital literacy. East Point Housing Authority supports this educational vision and are constantly exploring ways to assure that low income families have equal access to all the resources and tools necessary to improve their quality of life and achieve their educational goals.
If you are a current Public Housing or Housing Choice Voucher participant, contact Reyhahn Granger (404) 678-0078 ext. 131 to inquire about this free program.
